Visas
EU & UK citizens should have a passport valid for at least six months from date of travel. Others check please with your nearest Egyptian Embassy.
Money Exchange for VISA and Traveller’s cheques can be changed at any bank in Dahab. ATM machines are also available.
The currency in Egypt is the Egyptian Pound, or LE. Euros, US Dollars and Pound Sterling in cash are also easily exchanged in banks and also in supermarkets at a surprisingly low commission.
Health
At present there are no vaccination requirements for Egypt. We recommend a booster of the following vaccinations: Hepatitis, Tetanus and Polio. Medications are easily available in the local pharmacies.
It is a good idea though to bring your own little First Aid Kit with plasters, disinfectant and dehydration salts for the hot climate.
What to bring
Sunglasses, sun block & lip salve, mosquito spray, light casual clothing and long trousers, tops and a jacket for the cooler evenings and winter months. Towels for the beach, and maybe a sleeping bag, if you intend to go on a safari.
Advice
Please respect the local Culture: The Muslim culture predominates, so wear casual but modest clothing when off the beach.
NO topless or nude sunbathing in public. Please try to save water, when possible!
